Further Event Information

A special night featuring Aoife Scott, Peggy Seeger, Wallis Bird and some of our finest female folk singers. More acts to be announced.

Aoife Scott

Aoife Scott is an Award Winning folk singer and songwriter based in Dublin, Ireland. Born into the legendary Black Family, Aoife has steadily ascended to the top of the traditional and folk music scene and has long enjoyed success as an established artist in her own right. With a voice that is fragile and ethereal one moment and strong and vibrant the next, her dynamic and profound vocals explore the emotional depths of her lyrics, leaving audiences entranced. Aoife has a unique sound. Her music has a broad creative scope but is largely influenced by her own roots in folk and traditional Irish music. Her celebrated debut album, Carry The Day was launched at Tradfest in 2016 to rapturous applause, as was her second, HomeBird, which debuted at the Button Factory as part of TradFest 2020. For Aoife, this is a sort of homecoming.

Peggy Seeger

Peggy Seeger is a unique artist who has carved a special place in the folk revival of both the UK and the USA. Now in her 80s, her light burns as brightly as ever, with legendary live performances that might include an unaccompanied traditional ballad, followed by an anecdote from her remarkable life, before launching into a topical song about drugs, war, hormones, politicians, unions, women, love or ecology. A multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, 5-string banjo, autoharp, English concertina and Appalachian dulcimer), she is lauded for her feminist and political songs. She has made 23 solo recordings and participated in over a hundred more with other artists. As Ewan MacColl’s partner and muse, she was the inspiration for MacColl’s classic ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ ,yet this is a woman and artist who has consistently followed her own path with passion and vigour. Truly folk royalty.

Wallis Bird

For over a decade now, multi-international-award winning Irish folk artist Wallis Bird has been enrapturing audiences with her irrepressible energy and sinuous songcraft. As of 2021, she has released 6 albums. During the pandemic, Wallis streamed all 6 of her albums for monthly concerts streamed in various venues across Berlin as part of her “Retrospective Sessions” series. She is currently recording her 7th album. We may even get a debut or two…
