Further Event Information
In case you didn’t already know, Cherish the Ladies is a Grammy-nominated, Irish-American super group that formed in New York City in 1985 to celebrate the rise of women in what had been a male-dominated Irish music scene. Under the leadership of All-Ireland flute and whistle champion Joanie Madden, named by The Irish Voice Newspaper as one of the Top 25 most influential Irish Americans of the past quarter century. They have since toured the world, played the White House and the Olympics. Beyond music - theirs is a movement!
Formed in 2014, The Shandrum Céilí Band became one of only a handful of céilí bands in the long history of the coveted Senior Ceilí Band Competition to achieve the elusive “3-in-a-row”. Combining exquisite musicianship with irrepressible spirit, they conjure a celebration with the first note.
Brilliant musicians, thrilling performers, free-thinking visionaries and all-round good chaps as well, Lau are regarded as the epicentre of the new folk boom. As a band they effortlessly bridge the seemingly diametrically opposed worlds of acoustic folk tradition and post rock – electronics. This is a thrilling live band that defy definition.
